1996 - Founded -
The first Japan-India Student Conference plenary session was held in Kolkata (right photo)
1999 - First time held in Japan -
The 3rd Japan-India Student Conference (Tokyo)
The plenary sessions will be held in the following order: India → India → Japan
Since 2001 - Expansion of venues -
In the fifth term, we visited Delhi for the first time, and in the tenth term, we visited Pune,
From the 13th term , we began visiting Chennai, where exchanges continue to this day.
In the 16th term, he also visited Bangalore.
Since 1997 - Participation in external activities -
Even back then, students were proactively participating in events such as "Namaste India," an event organized by the Indian Government Tourism Board that continued until before COVID-19, as well as hearings with experts and lectures organized by related organizations.
2011 - Held after the Great East Japan Earthquake -
15th Tokyo
Indian students visit Japan in the same year the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred
The following year, the 16th event was recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a commemorative event for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-India diplomatic relations.
2020 and beyond
- First online event amid the COVID-19 pandemic -
Due to the global spread of the COVID-19 virus, the in-person exchanges that had continued for 23 years had to be canceled, and from the 24th term onwards, the general meetings have been held online.
The 25th event was recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a commemorative event for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India.
In the same year, the Executive Committee for the 1st Japan-India Student Conference was established.
