​Basic Philosophy

​There are many different people in the world, with different cultures, races, religions, and languages. Therefore, we believe that the most important thing when interacting is "dialogue." The main purpose of the Japan-India Students Conference (JISC) is to understand each other's different values, and in order to achieve this, we will hold an "international conference for students, by students."

■Organizational Structure

The Japan India Student Conference (JISC) is composed of Japanese students (from universities, junior colleges, and vocational schools), Indian students, the advisor, and the founders.

Each year, approximately 15 students are selected from Japan. On the Indian side, participants are recruited from two partner organizations: Nihongo Kaiwa Kyokai in Kolkata and ABK-AOTS DOSOKAI in Chennai.

When the conference is hosted in India, the Japanese participants travel to India. Likewise, when the conference is held in Japan, the Indian participants travel to Japan to take part in the program.

■Mission

The Japan India Student Conference (JISC) aims to promote mutual understanding between Japan and India through dialogue among students. By bringing together young people from both countries, the conference provides a platform for meaningful exchange, enabling participants to deepen their understanding of one another while strengthening the friendship between Japan and India.

JISC encourages discussions on issues shared by both countries as well as global challenges, empowering students—the next generation of leaders—to exchange ideas, broaden their perspectives, and develop proposals for the future. Through these discussions, participants cultivate not only intercultural understanding but also the skills and networks needed to contribute to society.

As part of its activities, JISC organizes post-conference reporting sessions, publishes an annual conference report, and carries out public relations activities throughout the year to share the outcomes of the conference with a wider audience.

Beyond the annual conference, JISC actively collaborates with other international exchange organizations, educational institutions, and related stakeholders through networking, information exchange, and public outreach events. Through these ongoing initiatives, JISC strives to remain an open, student-led organization that contributes to society by fostering international understanding and cooperation.

■Activities

​

The Japan India Student Conference (JISC) is centered around its Annual Conference, a two-week exchange program held alternately in Japan and India, where students from both countries come together to promote mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral ties.

All aspects of the conference—including its planning, preparation, management, implementation, and post-conference reporting—are organized and carried out by students. Each year's activities are led by an Executive Committee, which is responsible for managing the conference and related initiatives throughout the year.

In addition to organizing the Annual Conference, JISC actively collaborates with other student organizations, educational institutions, and partner organizations through networking and the exchange of ideas, with the aim of remaining an open and socially engaged student-led organization.

＜Main Activities＞

  • Organizing and hosting the Annual Conference (approximately two weeks)

  • Holding weekly Executive Committee meetings (hybrid format: online and in person)

  • Planning, preparing, and managing the Annual Conference

  • Recruiting Executive Committee members

  • Conducting public relations and outreach activities

  • Applying for grants and sponsorships, and requesting institutional support

  • Coordinating with the Indian organizing team in preparation for the conference

  • Organizing exchange events with Indian participants

  • Holding pre-conference study sessions

  • Conducting research and discussion meetings within each thematic subcommittee

  • Preparing presentations for each thematic subcommittee

  • Organizing and hosting the post-conference report session

  • Networking and exchanging ideas with other student conferences and international exchange organizations

  • Meeting with partner organizations and stakeholders to exchange information and strengthen collaboration
