​Basic Philosophy

In our world, there are diverse individuals with different cultures, races, religions, and languages. Therefore, we believe that "dialogue" is the most crucial element in any cross-cultural interaction. Understanding each other's distinct values is the primary objective of the Japan-India Student Conference (JISC). To achieve this goal together, we will host "an international conference organized by students, for students."

■Organizational Structure

The Japan-India Student Conference is comprised of Japanese students (from universities, junior colleges, and vocational schools), Indian students, advisors, and founders. Each year, approximately 15 students are recruited from Japan, while students from India are recruited from two cities: Kolkata (Nihongo Kaiwa Kyokai) and Chennai (ABK-AOTS DOSOKAI). When hosted in India, Japanese students travel to India; when hosted in Japan, Indian students travel to Japan.

■Purpose of Activities

This organization aims to foster mutual understanding between Japan and India through "dialogue," leveraging our position as students. Our primary focus is to contribute the insights gained through active communication between Japanese and Indian students back to society, thereby furthering friendly relations between the two nations. Furthermore, our activities and proposals center on student discussions—the future leaders of their respective countries—aimed at achieving mutual understanding from the grassroots level, as well as understanding and resolving global issues. As part of these activities, we hold reporting sessions following the main conference, compile reports, and engage in public relations efforts throughout the year. Additionally, through non-conference activities, information exchanges with other international exchange organizations, relevant institutions, and stakeholders, as well as awareness-raising events, we remain dedicated to serving as a student conference that is continually open to society.

■Activities

​

The Japan India Student Conference (JISC) is centered around its Annual Conference, a two-week exchange program held alternately in Japan and India, where students from both countries come together to promote mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral ties.

All aspects of the conference—including its planning, preparation, management, implementation, and post-conference reporting—are organized and carried out by students. Each year's activities are led by an Executive Committee, which is responsible for managing the conference and related initiatives throughout the year.

In addition to organizing the Annual Conference, JISC actively collaborates with other student organizations, educational institutions, and partner organizations through networking and the exchange of ideas, with the aim of remaining an open and socially engaged student-led organization.

＜Main Activities＞

  • Organizing and hosting the Annual Conference (approximately two weeks)

  • Holding weekly Executive Committee meetings (hybrid format: online and in person)

  • Planning, preparing, and managing the Annual Conference

  • Recruiting Executive Committee members

  • Conducting public relations and outreach activities

  • Applying for grants and sponsorships, and requesting institutional support

  • Coordinating with the Indian organizing team in preparation for the conference

  • Organizing exchange events with Indian participants

  • Holding pre-conference study sessions

  • Conducting research and discussion meetings within each thematic subcommittee

  • Preparing presentations for each thematic subcommittee

  • Organizing and hosting the post-conference report session

  • Networking and exchanging ideas with other student conferences and international exchange organizations

  • Meeting with partner organizations and stakeholders to exchange information and strengthen collaboration
